Why women have their networking events?

No matter how hard they work, most of time women are isolated, invisible in their job, and do not attach as much importance as men do to network. For women who belong to male-dominated fields, for them to have the support of one women’s network is helpful.  Because they tend to lack social capital, women need time, effort and support to gain it and network events for them only, are a perfect occasion to build business and social relationships and to gain experience and confidence in a safe space.

Also, women enjoy meeting other ones with similar interests, passions, goals and worries in a relaxed atmosphere.

• Founder Friday is a Ellas 2.0 monthly networking event for aspiring founders, innovators, current founders, hackers, investors, anyone curious about or running a startup — both men and women.
• Red de Emprendedores organizes “Table networking” for freelance and entrepreneurs women in a cozy and social atmosphere (Public Speaking techniques are not needed!).
• European Professional Women’s Networking organizes debates, conferences and lunches for English-speaking professional women.
• “Coctèls & blocs” (ENG. Cocktails a blogs) organized by Dones Xarxa  are meetings in Catalan and in Spanish to talk about Internet, Social Media, start-up business topics.
• The BWN (Barcelona Women’s Network) is a group of women living in Catalonia who meet to make friends, learn about Barcelona, make professional connections, and support charities. They organize activities for families, outing in and around Barcelona, tapas, drinks, a monthly professional networking event and a dinner for members
• Every month, between 20 and 30 French-speaking women of all ages attend to “Drink Nanas“, a networking event organized on monthly basis by  BCN Club, the French-speaking community of Barcelona.
• In a more intimate atmosphere, “A Barcelone” gather around 15 French-speaking women every 2 months at one of Barcelona’s many bars.
• Circulo de Mujeres de Negocio is aimed to impulse the collaboration among women who are executive, freelance business owners and entrepreneurs. They organize many activities both online and offline in Spanish only (events. traning, mentoring,dinners,lunches, etc.).
• Mujeres in!, founded in 2010 by three women, Ana, Carlota, Claudia aimed to gather INteresting, INtelligent, INtuitive, International, INnovating, INdependent, IN Business women. Every last Thursday of the month they organize conferences about self-development . Also, “Se Ese Uno” training academy for freelancers and business owners  and MujeresIn organize a business networking activity named “La Colmena” (“The Beehive”) open to men and women and organized by “. To promote the interaction and to increase the number of contacts, attendees are separated in group of 4 people and every person switch from one group to another one and introduce member of former group to the new one.
