Barcelona Activa is the Local Development Agency of the Barcelona City Council, being its mission to foster the transformation of Barcelona through entrepreneurship, business growth, innovation, career opportunities and quality employment.

Created in 1986, this municipal company was born as a business incubator with 16 projects installed. Today, Barcelona Activa is a national and international benchmark in the designing and implementation of innovative policies to support entrepreneurship, SMEs, employment and professional improvement .

Barcelona Activa offers responses to the more than 100,000 participants who annually come to its premises. To fulfil its mission and accomplish its objectives, the agency structures its work around five lines of activity:

- Business Creation: to facilitate the creation of new business initiatives and future growth potential, with special emphasis on the development of strategic sectors and entrepreneurship as an engine for inclusion.

- Business Growth: to create conditions that promote the sustained growth of innovative enterprises in the city through itd internationalization, access to financing, cooperation and innovation.

- Employment: Occupational training to facilitate employment and access all moving in a quality and inclusive labour market.

- Human capital to promote vocational training, and developing human capital attraction, promoting professional development.

- Digital Culture: to promote technological progress and train citizens, businesses and workers in the use of ICTs as a means of improving competitiveness and skills.
